FEATURING ; Julia Wes
•Have you ever felt like you had a great idea or like you were meant to do something spectacular?? Maybe you can’t quite put your finger on it, it’s on the tip of your tongue but you can’t spit it out. I remember feeling this way, particularly, around the time i graduated high school. I now realize that was part of what i like to call, the process. The process can be frustrating, grueling, painful and lonely. However, if you hang in there and really muster that inner grit, the process will emerge and present an abundance of opportunity and material. If you're patient & pay attention to that inner voice, your life will begin to unfold.
•It's officially summertime for my client Julia Wes. She just graduated high school and is attending Metro State in the fall. Sweet Julia is soft spoken, introverted and polite but don't underestimate this one. She actually reminds me a lot of myself when i was her age. She has an inner dark side, a need for creative stimulation and a bit of a rebellious streak. She's a phean for rock n'roll (she plays the drums in a rock band), a sucker for horror movies and an avid snowboarder. Like a true aesthetic wanderer, Julia doesnt know where she'll be in 5 years, what she'll study or where life might take here. But whatever comes, I have a sneaking suspicion that if she follows her creative instincts, respects the process and works hard at what she loves- she will lead an inspiring, intuitive, and rebellious life.
•Moonlight&Medlock designs are all handmade from precious stones. They're a simple aesthetic with minor one of a kind accents. Best of all, they just so happen to be made by my amazing salon coordinator, Lesa Medlock! See which one speaks to you- Also available via etsy, MoonlightAndMedlock.
HAIRCOLOR/STYLED BY ANNA EMBRY
•Before i met Julia, i did her mom’s hair. Her mom said to me “I want you to meet my daughter. Help me inspire her- She just needs a little creative direction!” She even hand wrote me this letter and mailed it to my salon (& yes i still have it and keep it on my fridge);
•So then what do i do?!? I dye her hair blueish-black and feature her in my blog, conveniently themed around the movie The Craft and suggests ideals of witchcraft…. (Sorry about that Marietta!!) I colored Julia's hair using Wella color and styled with Unite professional products.
