FEATURING; Haley Miller
•Summer is here my friends. For me this means songs on my playlist speed up a bit, less makeup, less clothes ;), the bliss of how fresh cut/dewy lawns smell first thing in the morning, the joyful sound of a crickets chirp, prosecco, bicycles, and lazy napping at the pool.
•Haley is a self-employed visual designer, illustrator, merchandiser, client at my salon, and more importantly, my friend and muse. I love hanging out and chatting with Haley, mostly because she has a way about her- she's striking, soft spoken, and funny in a very meek sort of way. I've always felt like Haley's entire demeanor embodies a work of art. It's no secret: you know, within 10 minutes of talking with her, she's an artist.
•I emailed Haley a short Q&A. I guess I could have distilled the answers and delivered them in my own form of boring old witty rhetoric.... But, her answers are just so charming. I want you to read them for yourself:
1.) Occupation title- Self-employed visual designer, illustrator, and merchandiser
2.) Favorite color- My favorite color changes depending on what it's associated with (different colors look better on different objects!)
3.) What general emotion does summer time evoke in you? Happiness
4.) Where are you most artistically inspired? Light and color are what inspire me most. like when i'm out and about somewhere and i see how the sun is hitting a landscape, i'll think "i want to paint that". all my inspiration is purely visual, i don't get inspired by emotions or concepts.
5.) What's your favorite summertime activity in Colorado? Relaxing outside somewhere between the hours of 5 and 9pm with a glass of wine or beer and good friends. porches or rooftops preferred. also, hiking!
6.) Do you consider yourself a girly-girl? Definitely not - if i ever wear dresses they're giant and flowy, and i don't own any lace.
7.) What are you most excited about this summer? I'm going on a couple trips with my family - one to visit them in their new home in montana, and one where we're all meeting in british columbia. Summer family trips are my most treasured moments. I'm also going to the UMS, which is right in my neighborhood (and my boyfriend is playing!). That was my favorite weekend last summer, so i'm really looking forward to it this summer.
8.) Current essential oil scent of choice? Ylang ylang
9.) What type of music do you generally listen to in the summertime? I usually gravitate towards a couple artists and put them on repeat. Last summer it was Young The Giant, Kings of Leon, and Disclosure.
10.) Summertime drink of choice? Chardonnay
MOON RIVER NATURALS
HOMEGOODS, VINTAGE FINDS & ACCESSORIES
•I don't know about you, but in the summertime, I like to have my hair up off my neck- For longer hair, I really love interesting fantasy ponytails. Pulling hair back really shows off the neckline of a long flowy dress.
•The bubble braid- all you need is a few elastic hair ties, a soft boar bristle brush and the right product of course!
I used some recycled glass bottles to make homemade tiki-torches for this months upcycle. All you need is lamp oil, waxed cotton cord, and white oven-bake sculpey.
COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH
•Sophia Coppola's sparkling wine in a can is my favorite, girly, summertime drink. Plus they come in a pink-portable box & with a pink straw..... Soooooo, How could you hate it?
Thanks for being so lovely Haley- Cheers to having a great summer!
