  • According to the Chinese Zodiac cycle, we are in the midst of the Year of The Fire Monkey. The year of the monkey begins on February 8th and ends on January 17th. The personality traits of the monkey include wit, intellect and curiosity. However, traits such as mischievousness, cleverness and playfulness make them very "naughty" creatures. Use these traits in your favor- for these traits make for a playful year. It is opportune to take risks and break rules. Taking advantage of crafty opportunities will work in your favor, for monkeys are fast learners. With this- be careful how you play. Gambling in an illegal or greedy manor will quickly become a dicey situation. Know the rules & then learn how you can break them.
  • This beautiful geisha is my colleague, mentor & MOST importantly my friend. Sarah is always put together, but somehow even when she’s not, she has a timeless, undone and striking look about her. Even when she’s running late- she runs into the salon, wind blown, her long shiny locks perfectly tousled and undone, dressed in a slouchy bohemian dress (mind you- she literally rolled out of bed and threw on) & ALWAYS in a pair of heels; and somehow, she looks perfect, unfazed, business as usual. Sarah is charismatic, outspoken (in a genuine kind-of-way), and has a very defined sense of style. What i admire most about her, is her ability to speak with her clients honestly, delivering exactly what they asked for and somehow is still able to add her signature touch.

  • Sara’s cute little co-star is her brand new puppy, Walter. I selectively choose her to star in this specific feature, as Sarah has encountered significant change in her life. As a fellow “creature of habit”, change is not always embraced. However, from my personal experience, change is not only inevitable but it is also out of our control. Much like fighting a rip current, sometimes our only option is to give up the fight and swim alongside it. In other words, there is beauty in the break down.

FEATURED UPCYCLE/DIY

I recreated these shorts based off a pair of pants I fell in love with and was consequently devastated to find that they were WAY over priced.

I used a pair of old high waisted Levi cut offs, standard bright white "puff paint" (available at any craft store) and a star stencil. Find yourself a paint brush and paint stars randomly.

These shorts (including supplies) cost me a total of roughly $25. However, they saved me a total of roughly $200... Making them priceless!
