FEATURING; Sara Colley
"As this dream comes to life, it seems as if everything comfortable in my life has been stripped away. My heart has been wrung and tried so deep this year. But i have an amazing community- which i believe grows from the courage within vulnerability. It is so hard but there is so much beauty within vulnerability- These girls in France don't have this. We need to be their voices. We need to stand in the gap for them. Their is freedom to be found- and i hope this project is only the beginning of it"
Lately it seems like I can't turn on the news with out feeling quite hopeless. In a world filled with dark, people forget to see the light. But not so for my dear friend and colleague Sara Colley- One of the most empathetic and genuine souls I know. Sara reminds me everyday that the world we live in is just a microscopic portion of our truth. How she is able to carry all this truth and still perform in everyday life is beyond me. The areas we are able to shed light are vastly deeper than the eye can see and our ability to contribute starts by asking questions...
Sara "birthed" her nonprofit, The Call Project, from her long time dream of combining her love for hairdressing with her heart to fight human trafficking. After journeying to The South of France, Sara's vision became a reality. There, she partnered with Justice Acts- a nonprofit organization based in The South of France. Their goal is to train people holistically through education and prevention. After collaborating with Colley, together they plan to commence "after-care" training to women who have been trafficked. Through The Call Project, these women will have access to Hair School where they will be educated by talented hairdressers from all over the world. By learning a trade, these women will find hope and become empowered for their future.
As Brene Brown says, "The middle is messy, but it's also where the magic happens". I've never known words to be more true. Sara gave me my first copy of "Rising Strong" by Brene Brown. Inside the cover it read, "Anna, your story is beautiful and i am so proud of you. Own your journey and rise to your truth," It changed my life. But in light of spreading the love, i passed it along to the next soul in need. I encourage you to buy your own copy and continue to pay it forward. Tell a strong woman in your life that she is beautiful. She is capable. And her story is her own.
